We had a great time learning at the
Jackson Area Early Childhood Conference!
Dr. Andrews has been involved in the field of early childhood education for over 25 years and is both a professor of ECE and practitioner working in the field as a preschool director. She has been consulting both domestically and abroad assisting schools, school districts and companies with implementing STEM at the early childhood level. Dr. Andrews feels that, “STEM is not only where the job market is and will be for our students, but it is fun, exciting and engages children in a way that nothing else can! Just as you want children to learn a second language early on, so too do you want children to learn the languages of STEM early on.” Dr. Andrews technique of hands-on STEM training makes it accessible and easy to implement in any early childhood classroom with little to no expenditures of money. Dr. Andrews is a mother to four, three of whom are employed in STEM.
The future is here. STEM is much more than its individual components of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. It is the integration of these concepts across the curriculum and in various contexts to solve real world problems. Integrating STEM into the classroom and outdoors is not only easy and inexpensive, but fun to do and a very exciting way to increase enrollment. From beginner to master teacher, anyone can incorporate STEM into the classroom. Not just digging in the dirt and playing with blocks but real problem solving and engineering type of STEM! This workshop will give you everything you need and more to fully integrate STEM tomorrow.
