Kathy Hoszkiw is the owner and Executive Director of ABC Academy, Inc. Kathy opened her first center in 1984. Since then ABC Academy has grown to three centers in Jackson County serving over 400 children weekly. Kathy earned an Associates Degree at Jackson Community College before heading to Michigan State University for a Bachelor’s Degree in education.

Kathy and her husband have two grown children, Brittney and Brandon, who attended ABC Academy for preschool through school age care and followed in her footsteps as employees of ABC Academy before heading to MSU to advance their education.
Throughout her career Kathy has been active in the early childhood community. She held the position of Vice President and President of Jackson Educators for Young children, she is an execuative committee member of the Great Start Collaborative in Jackson County whose mission is to ensure every child in Jackson County is safe, healthy, eager and ready to succeed in school. She was a participant in the Promise to Kids campaign, along with being an active member of the Jackson County Child Care Coalition working to increase infant/toddler care, special needs care and extended hours child care in Jackson County. She was an active member of the Worthy Wage Campaign in bringing the Legislative Breakfast Committee to Jackson County. This committee works to help bring awareness of child care issues to the governmental level to improve the quality of child care offered. Kathy was the committee chair for five years of the Children’s Expo, bringing together local agencies that offer services to children to help in making parents aware of services available to children and their families in Jackson County. She assisted in bringing High/Scope training to the members of the Jackson Educators for Young Children and their staff along with hosting an annual early childhood conference for early childhood providers in Jackson and the surrounding counties. She is a current member of JEYC, Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children (MiAEYC) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Kathy says "I am very proud to work with dedicated early childhood professionals who strive to provide quality child care for children. It is very rewarding to be able to offer these services to parents and their children."

Ginelle Skinner I have been with ABC Academy since July 2006 as the Administrative Director. I graduated in 1993 from Indiana Wesleyan University with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have also completed the High/Scope Preschool Curriculum Course and the Training for Trainers Course. I began my career in the Early Childhood Field as a Latch-Key Director, then became a Child Care Director, then as my children were born and grew I worked as a Preschool Teacher for over 4 years. In 2002 I became the Early Childhood Trainer for Child Care Network until I began my position here at ABC. I have a wonderful husband and three beautiful daughters, Megan, Madi and Mariah. They are the center of my life and I enjoy spending my extra time with them.

Kelly Horsch is the center Director for ABC Academy II located at 3210 Lansing Avenue. Kelly has been with ABC Academy since it’s inception in 1984. Over the past 24 years she has worked with infants through school age children as an assistant teacher, team teacher, lead teacher and director. Kelly attended both Jackson Community College and Eastern Michigan University for education and business management. She has two school-age boys that attend the center as well.

Kelly maintains memberships with JAEYC, MiAEYC and NAEYC to keep current on issues affecting child care and has found helping families with the care of their children to be extremely rewarding. Kelly completed the High/Scope Curriculum Course and the Training for Trainers Course.

Kim Stephens is the Program Director at our Laurence St. center and has been working in the childcare field since 1993. She joined the ABC Academy team in 1997 as the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher and Assistant Director at our Lansing Ave. center before moving to her current position in 2000 as the Program Director of Laurence St. which became Nationally Accredited under her direction. Kim has a Bachelor’s Degree from Adrian College and post-graduate courses from Central Michigan University. Kim also completed the High/Scope Preschool Curriculum Course and the Training the Trainers Course. Originally from Northern Michigan, Kim enjoys travel, boating and scrapbooking.

She has two school-age children who have attended ABC Academy since birth and now participate in the after-school program at our Lansing Ave. location. Kim says "My position as the Program Director provides me with the wonderful opportunity to develop a partnership with each family we serve to ensure that each child not only receives quality child care but also a strong foundation for successful schooling. I treasure the experience."

Mariann Gladstone is the Program Director of our Jackson Community College, Emmons Rd. center. Mariann graduated from Jackson Community College with an Associates Degree and Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught at Western School District for four years. With two children now in child care it became difficult to find good care. In 1992, Mariann hired in at ABC Academy on Lansing Ave. as a Teacher, Toddler Coordinator and Assistant Director. In 1997 when the JCC site opened, Mariann became Program Director which has since became a Nationally Accredited program.

Throughout her career, Mariann has been a member of the SMAEYC and the JEYC. She has served on her children’s PTA, is a Pioneer Leader and has remained a member of Kappa Delta Pi, a leadership in education. Mariann also completed the High/Scope Preschool Curriculum Course and the Training for Trainers Course. She frequently presents at early childhood workshops.
Mariann says that she is proud to be part of a group of hard working and caring individuals that provide an excellent program for the students of JCC and the community.
