A Typical Day in the Summer School Age Program:
6:00–9:00 Children arrive and are greeted by the staff. Parents relay important information to the caregiver. Breakfast is served to the children. Open ended activities are available for the children to participate in.
9:00-10:20 A variety of activities are available for the children to participate in, ranging from cooking projects, woodworking, and craft projects, to time on the computer and group games.
10:20–10:40 Children enjoy a family style setting for snack, which often consists of foods prepared earlier in a morning cooking project by the children.
10:40–11:30 Children spend time outdoors playing organized games involving a large group or enjoy individual or small group activities such as gardening, taking a walk, playing on the outdoor equipment or doing a special activity.
11:30-12:30 Children enjoy a family style lunch setting. Lunch is provided by the parents.
12:30-1:30 After lunch children spend a short period of quiet time in the classroom reading books, playing board games, computer time or quietly visiting with peers.
1:30-3:00 Afternoon activities may be a continuation of the on-going weekly theme group project or individual free choice activities. Science experiments, craft projects, games are available to the children. Children clean up the classroom and serve themselves snack.
