Infant & Toddler Care:
ABC Academy recognizes that the Infant and Toddler Group is a diverse one, and that each child is different. We recognize and encourage these differences, while at the same time providing opportunities for the Infant/Toddler to enhance their development progress. Goals have to be constantly reassessed in terms of the current needs of the children in the classroom. The center provides teacher-to-child ratios of 1:4 for infants and toddlers aged more than 2 1/2 weeks to 30 months; 1:8 for toddlers 30 months to 36 months.
Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten:
Our preschool program cares for (potty trained) children ranging from 3 to young 4 years of age. The rooms are arranged into several interest centers to allow each child to freely choose from a variety of challenging and creative activities. There are large spaces for group activities as well as smaller areas for one-on-one interaction with the teacher. The center provides teacher-to-child ratios of 1:10 for children three years of age and 1:12 for children 4 and 5 years of age . ABC Academy offers free preschool programs to families who qualify for the Michigan School Readiness Program (MSRP) or the Head Start Program sponsored by the Community Action Agency. Kindergarten & School-Age:
School age children, attend ABC Academy before and after school, during school holidays, in-service days and in the summer. The children are involved in a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors. Quiet time, tutoring, reading or just relaxing after school is also an important part of youth care. Summers are adventure filled for the youth age children. Weekly outings to local attractions along with special visitors are activities that fill their day. The center provides teacher-to-child ratios of 1:12 for the kindergarten group and 1:20 for the school-age group. Bus Transportation
Young Teens, 13 to 15 Years of Age:
Both teens and parents are excited about our Junior Counselor Program and feel that it meets the needs of both the parent (for their child to be safe and supervised) and the teen (to have some autonomy and important work to do).
