ABC Academy, Inc. was established in 1984 in a two classroom building in Jackson, Michigan. Enrollment quickly grew, and the program moved to its new five classroom center at 800 Laurence Street in 1986. This center is licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) for 87 children, ages 2 1/2 weeks to 12 years. In addition to the tuition based program this center offers two Great Start Readiness Program classrooms for children 4 years of age. This program is free to qualifying families. In 2006, this center achieved accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) This honor is awarded to centers who are proven to provide a high quality program, and this status is re-evalutated every 5 years. In August, 2011 they received confirmation that their efforts were awarded and became re-accredited. Our second center at 3210 Lansing Avenue opened its door in 1991, also caring for children ages 2 1/2 weeks through 12 years with a licensed capacity of 150 in the eight classroom facility. This location also offers the Great Start Readiness Program for qualifying 4 year olds.

Our third location, 2111 Emmons Road, on the Jackson Community College Campus, began caring for children in 1997. Staff members of Jackson Community College formed a committee to develop an on-site child care center for the students of JCC. While this center is open to the public, J.C.C. students receive top priority in filling spaces. This five classroom center is licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) for 77 children ages 2 1/2 weeks to 12 years. A Great Start Readiness Program classroom was added in 2010, and our J.C.C. location has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 2001.
Each center provides a secure, safe environment. The preschool and child care classrooms may only be accessed by an individual coded entry password, provided to parents at the time of registration. Classrooms are monitored with a closed circuit surveillance system, allowing the parents the opportunity to monitor their children as they spend their day in their classroom. Each center has a large fenced-in playground area, that may only be accessed through the secured classroom area.
