ABC Academy, Inc. was established in 1984 in a two classroom building in Jackson, Michigan. Enrollment quickly grew, moving to it’s new five classroom center at 800 Laurence Street in 1986. This center is licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) for 70 children, ages 2 1/2 weeks to 12 years. In addition to the tuition based program this center offers a Early Head Start program for infants and toddlers and a Head Start program for preschool programs. Both programs are free to qualifying families. In 2006, this center achieved the status of being accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Child (NAEYC). This honor is awarded to centers who are proven to provide a high quality program. This status is reevalutated every 5 years.
Our second center at 3210 Lansing Avenue opened it’s door in 1991 caring for children ages 2 1/2 weeks through 12 years with a licensed capacity of 150 in the eight classroom facility. In 2004, this center joined the Community Action Agency in providing a free Michigan School Readiness Program (MSRP) for qualifying four year olds.

Our third location, 2111 Emmons Road, on Jackson Community College Campus, began caring for children in 1997. Staff members of Jackson Community College formed a committee to develop an on-site child care center for the students of JCC. While this center is opened to the public, J.C.C. students receive top priority in filling spaces. This five classroom center is licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) for 77 children ages 2 1/2 weeks to 12 years. This location achieved the status of being accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in 2001 and is reviewed every five years. This honor is awarded to centers offering a higher level quality of child care. In 2003, this center began to participate in the Jackson area Head Start program for children two and one half to four years of age. This program is a free of charge to qualifying families sponsored by the Community Action Agency
Each center provides a secure, safe environment. The preschool and child care classrooms may only be accessed by an individual coded entry password, provided to parents at the time of registration. Classrooms are monitored with a close circuit surveillance system, allowing the parents the opportunity to monitor their children as they spend their day in their classroom. Each center has a large fenced playground area, that may only be accessed through the secured classroom area.
